Guidelines for Authors 

The journal publishes the articles that have not been published and submitted to the other journals. Postgraduates are free of fee for publication

The journal “Vestnik KGTU im. A.N. Tupoleva” publishes the results of fundamental and applied researches carried out at Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N. Tupolev (KNRTU-KAI) as well as other universities and research institutions. The journal also publishes review and discussion papers. The work presented in the journal should be a complete scientific research and contain novel scientific results.

By submitting a manuscript to the journal, the author(s) guarantee(s) that this manuscript (in the original or in translation into or from the other languages) has not been submitted to another journal, published, or is being considered for publication.

The article should not exceed eight–nine pages in length including figures and tables. Prospective authors of review papers must contact the Editorial Board prior to commencement, in order to check the  subject and scope of the review.   

Physical quantities and notation adopted in the International System SI should be used.

Authors should avoid repeating the same data in figures, tables, and text. Generally accepted abbreviations should be used.
The cited references are numbered in the order in which they appear in the text. Each reference number should be enclosed in square brackets.

It is obligatory to number and cite all references mentioned. References to unpublished articles are not permitted.
If an article is promising but needs reworking, it will be returned to the author(s) with suggestions for revisions. A revised article may be circulated for a second review.

Manuscripts for publication should be sent to the Editorial Board of the journal. Address: Assistant Editor of Vestnik KGTU, Kazan National Research Technical University, 10 K. Marx St., Kazan 420111, Russia.

Manuscript should include the following:

– two copies of the article (A4 paper format) signed by all authors and its electronic copy;
– a cover letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief;
– a conclusion of experts about publishing permission in public media;
– an extract  from meeting’s record of department or technical council of organization with the recommendation to publishing in the journal section specified;
- personal details of the authors: name, surname, degree, academic title, position, official  name  of organization and its subdivision  (faculty, department), e-mail and phone number;
- a title of the article in English;
- an abstract and keywords in the English and Russian languages;
- a paper sheet with decoding of indices derived from the Russian words.

Mandatory Structural Elements of the Article and Their Formatting

1. Universal Decimal Classification (UDC code): 10 pt font size, light italics, left-aligned, spacing before and after paragraph  0 pt.
2. Title of an article: 14 pt font size, direct bold font, capital letters, centered, spacing before paragraph 12 pt and after 0 pt, single line spacing.
3. Name and surname of the author(s): 12 pt font size, direct bold font, centered, spacing before paragraph   8 pt and after 12 pt;
 4. Abstract in Russian: 10 pt font size  , light direct font, justified alignment, spacing before paragraph 0 pt and after 4 pt, 20 mm left and right margins, line spacing is a factor of  1.1.
5. Keywords in Russian: 10 pt font size, direct bold font, justified alignment, spacing before paragraph 0 pt and after 6 pt, line spacing is a factor of  1.1.
6. Main body of text: 11 pt font size, light direct font, justified alignment, spacing before paragraph 0 pt and after 0 pt,  line spacing is a factor of  1.1, the first line has a 6 mm margin. Subtitle:  12 pt font size, direct bold font, centered, spacing before paragraph 6 pt and after 3 pt, line spacing is a factor of  1.1.
7. Heading of references: font size 11 pt, light direct font, capital letters, centered, spacing before paragraph  9 pt and after 6 pt.   References:  font size 10 pt, light face direct font, justified alignment, spacing before paragraph  0 pt and after 0 pt, a 10 mm left and right margins, the first line has a 3.5 mm margin, single line spacing, author’s surnames are typed in italics.     
8. Date of sending an article: 10 pt font size, light direct font, right-margin alignment, spacing before paragraph  6 pt and after 0 pt. 
9. Article title in English: 14 pt font size, direct bold font, capital letters, centered, spacing before paragraph  12 pt and after 0 pt, single line spacing.
10. Author’s names and surnames in English: 12 pt font size, direct bold font, centered, spacing before paragraph  8 pt and after 12 pt. 
11. Abstract in English: 10 pt font size, light face direct font, justified alignment, spacing before paragraph  0 pt and after 4 pt, a 20 mm  left and right margins, line spacing is a factor of  1.1.
12. Keywords in English: 10 pt font size, direct bold font, justified alignment, spacing before paragraph  0 pt and after 4 pt, a 20 mm  left and right margins, line spacing is a factor of  1.1.
13. Personal details of the authors (name, surname, academic title, subdivision, organization, e-mail): 11 pt font size, light direct font,  left-margin alignment, spacing before paragraph  0 pt and after 5 pt.

Style Guide

The electronic copy of an article should be formatted as an integrated file including the whole body text, formulas, tables, figures, references, and personal details of the authors. The file is named by the first author’s surname.
The text of an article should be typed in Microsoft Word for Windows 2003 format using Times New Roman font.

Page setup:

- À4 paper format;
- mirror margins;
- head margin is 1.8 cm;
- foot margin is  2.9 cm;
- back margin is 1.4 cm;
- fore-edge margin is  2.0 cm;
- distance to the header is 0 cm;
- distance to the footer is 2.2 cm.

Tables and figures.   

All tables and figures (drawings, graphs, charts, listings, diagrams, photos) must be numbered, accompanied by a suitable caption, and be mentioned in the text in the correct numerical order. They should be placed at logical points in the text in their order of mention in the text. The continuous numbering (in Arabic numerals) should be used separately for figures and tables.

Tables arepresented in the following form.
The word Table should be typed using a 9 pt  font size, light italics with right-margin alignment.
The table title should be typed using a 9 pt font size, bold font, and be centered. Table cell contents should be centered.   
Table contents: 9 pt font size, light direct font.
The thickness of table lines is 0.5 pt. 
Dashes are used in the table columns, when the data is not available. The dimension of numerical data must be in the column’s text or  table heading.

Figures should be thoroughly prepared in electronic form (scanned or prepared using a graphical editor) and insert into the text. Figures should have a resolution of at least 300 dpi with extension .tif or .jpg.  It is permissible to present figures in the cdr format. Figures prepared by MS Office drawing tools are not accepted.
Graphs should have a complete set of references in figure captions or in the text body. Notation within a figure: symbol size 9 pt,  Latin symbols – Times New Roman, light italics,  Cyrillic symbols – light italics,  Greek symbols – Symbol typeface in Roman.
Coordinate axes and curves should be presented by the uniform-thickness (0.25 mm) lines and the coordinate grid by the lines of 0.18 mm.   Caption: font size  9 pt, explanatory captions should be 8 pt. 

Formulas should be typed in MathType.
Latin symbols: Times New Roman font in italics.
Cyrillic symbols: Times New Roman direct font
 Greek symbols:  Symbol typeface in Roman.
Symbol size in formulas: full size is 11 pt, subscript/superscript is 65% of full size; symbol is 150 % of full size.
Formulas that have references in the text are numbered and centered.  The formula number is set on the right margin.  Equations should be punctuated in the same way as ordinary text. 

If the article does not abide by the formatting rules above mentioned, it will be sent back to the author.
